WA sets up graffiti contact centre

The Western Australian government has launched a state-wide contact centre in a bid to curb graffiti in the state.

WA premier Alan Carpenter said the State Graffiti Vandalism Reduction Strategy would give the public the opportunity to anonymously report graffiti vandalism via a 1800 State-wide graffiti hotline. The latest moves comes after another public awareness campaign by the State Government featuring a telephone hotline, the Stay off the Tracks campaign warning about safe public transport use.

And the WA Police last month urged all people to program the CrimeStoppers number into their mobile phones. Carpenter said successful tip-offs to the new graffiti line could earn good Samaritans up to $1000 in reward.
