The following provides a summary of the December 2008 job absorption results:

11,708 new jobs created at 35 facilities opening or expanding
Monthly decrease of 3,997 new jobs as compared to November 2008
Year-end decrease of 37,086 new jobs as compared to 2007
2,708 jobs displaced at 11 facilities closing or downsizing
Monthly decrease of 22 jobs displaced as compared to November 2008
Year-end decrease of 12,927 jobs displaced as compared to 2007.
